On November 7, Tenaja’s dance team did an exhibition for Pack 774. The Tenaja trio of John Robinsion, Will Robinsion and Alec Toro, used the Native American dance tracks of the Ponca and Osagen tribes. The Robinson brothers danced in the Southern Straight style and Alec Toro danced that of Northern Traditional. The young cub scouts watched with rapt attention as the 3 dancers performed 3 dances of a normal two-step southern beat. The exhibition was organized jointly by V.C. of Indian Affairs Alec Toro and Pack 774 leader Elizabeth Morgan. To join the dance team, talk to one of the dance team members and we will organize lessons.

Tenaja Completes Service
Project for Homeless and
On November 14, at our normal Tenaja Chapter meeting things were not normal. Preparations began nearly 2 hours before the meeting for the Brotherhood ceremony. Following the guidelines, Mr. Sales oriented the site to the South. Given the current fire danger levels the campfire was replaced with a realistic arrangement of pieces of wood with a red flame simulated by red saran wrap illuminated by 2 flashlights. John Wes, Michael T, Willie, and Alec T. did an excellent job of performing the ceremony. Two of the three arrowmen getting their Brotherhood were Mr. Galpin and Mr. Thompson.

While the ceremony was being held outside, inside during the meeting, Alex Sales lead the chapter in assembling toiletry kits for the homeless. Hundreds of personal hygiene items ranging from toothbrushes to sewing kits had been collected at the previous several district round table meetings as well as at the south county Scout shop. From these items approx 150 individual kits each in a gallon baggie were constructed.

Tenaja Turns the Cog at Lodge Leadership
Development
On November 17, 2007 at Orange County Council headquarters Wiatava Lodge held its 2008 Lodge Leadership Development training. The training that usually is over 2 days, this week was shortened to the essential training necessary to run a quality chapter. Representing Tenaja were its 2008 Chief Michael and the EVC Will. Tenaja members as in the past hold a disproportionate number of Lodge positions. This year the Lodge EVC is our own 2007 Chief John Wes. John presented training on the key elements of the Ordeal. You are the key! Following John Wes, with more leadership training was Tenaja 2007 Vigil Chief Matt. Matt is the Lodge 2008 VC of Activities. As usual the highlight of the training was the “session” on paperwork. Countless forms/reports must be turned in to the lodge each month. No less than five copies of each submission made to insure that n dependable paper trail is left in case of nuclear war.

At the Wiatava Fall Service Project oak and eucalyptus trees were planted at the Outdoor Education Center.
