On April 4 at Our Savior’s Luthern Church in San Clemente, Tenaja Chapter helped make a benefit concert performed by Jay Easton a success. Mr. Easton, is a world renounced saxophone player – not just 1, but he actually is an expert at 7! The arrowmen directed traffic, Alex S. handed out programs, Mrs. Roach helped in reception, while others ushered people to their seats and later to refreshments at the intermission. After the concert, the arrowmen helped cleanup by putting away tables and chairs.

On Febuary 16, Wiatava Lodge assited the Western Hound Association in directing parking, assisting in loading/unloading, and driving attendees from their cars to the competition site in golf carts. Tenaja was assigned the 6-9 AM slot – a little early for some!

Our help was greatly appreciated.

Several arrowmen took the opportunity to practice their driving skills

On April 13, Alex S, and VC of Indian Affairs Matt G. both members of the Dance Team performed at Pack 726/729 Blue and Gold ceremony. Mr. Sales and Mr. Taylor sang while providing a steady beat on the drum.

On April 18 at the LDS Stake in San Clemente the Dance team assisted by the Election team performed at the LDS Cake Auction fundraiser. VC of Indian Affairs Matt G. and Will R danced several authentic dances. Newly formed Drum Team lead Pat B and Mr. Taylor sang and kept a steady beat on the drum for the dancers.

A week before camporee, On April 19 and 20, Tenaja Advisors assisted by David O. created the first ever patrol awards for the District Camporee. These awards were given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall best patrols at the Camporee held on April 26-29 at Lake O’Neil on Camp Pendleton.

After providing for the Cracker barrel on Friday night, Tenaja arrowmen arose early Saturday morning to cook our famous French Toast breakfast.

This year 220 scouts and adults enjoyed a breakfast to remember – 2 pieces of French toast, 2 sausage patties, a Danish, and a glass of OJ – a breakfast to remember!
But no sooner was Breakfast over, that the Tenaja cooks were back at it – making lunch for the entire camp of 400 people! On the menu was: hamburgers ( with optional cheese ), beans, potato salad, lettuce, tomato, and onions ( as well a grilled onions ), potato chips, choice of fruit ( apple, orange, or banana ) and a glass of lemonade.

After lunch Tenaja didn’t stop serving the district. The OA trading post provided snow cones and candy to thirsty and hungry competitors.

During campfile, 28 Ordeal candidates were called out including our new District Executive Courtney.

On Sunday, our Chapter Chief Michael T., who MC’ed the campfire the night before, kept the enthusiasm going as the overall patrol awards and spirit awards were announced.

On May 2-4, at Mataguay Scout Reservation the W4B Section Conclave was held. Representing Tenaja were our Chief Michael T, Will R, ex-Chief ( and current Lodge EVC ) John R, and Matt D ( current Lodge VC of Activities ). Friday evening started with a cracker barrel.

As usual Tenaja was well represented by the John and Will in the athletic events.

Michael T, was a staring role in the Saturday night play – Arrowrunner 5000 written by Mitchell V.

Western Region Chief Mark Hendricks was unable to prevent Wiatava from scoring.

In the section elections, Wiatava’s Lodge Chief was elected as Section Chief, and our own Matt D. was elected to be the Section EVC! Way to go Matt. Here they get sworn in by the Western Region Chief

Wiatava Lodge also captured the Niganet Award as well as the Spirit Award. Our spirit items were much better than last year!

It was a great second quarter for Tenaja lodge, hope to see you at some events in the future!
